Description

The first church of St Giles was built in the 12th century, most probably on the site of an earlier chapel. During the 19th century the church underwent extensive restoration and rebuilding, meaning that many of the original features of the exterior can no longer be viewed. The stone buttresses that support the spire and the spire itself are all original. Many monuments within the church still stand, as well as painted glass windows commemorating prominent Scottish figures.
