Coyaba

Opened in March 2004, Coyoba has built up a loyal following of locals, most of whom have never set foot in Jamaica. Coyoba is the first and only Jamaican restaurant in Scotland. Since opening the restaurant has received numerous positive and enthusiastic reviews in the local and national press. Sample the delights of Ital vegetarian dishes, escoveitch fish and jerk chicken. Served up with rice and peas, plaintain and Jamaican root vegetables, washed down with exotic punches, cocktails and natural juices and soothed with the sweet sounds of reggae music. Coyaba is the brainchild of Mahlon, a Jamaican Rastafarian, and mother and daughter, Lizzie and Esther. Chef Ras Mahlon has been cooking Jamaican food for over twenty years, learning his art from his mother and grandmother in the hills of Jamaica. He is considered to be one of the finest chefs of Jamaican cuisine.
